Burglars Have Gotten Smarter, So Have Home Security Systems

The professional burglar watches a residence to see when the family leaves and returns home, they watch the neighbors to ensure they will not be noticed entering or leaving the house. They also check to see if the home has a security system and will pass up a home that displays window decals and a yard sign to let everyone know their house is protected by an alarm company.

Burglars have gotten smarter, and with it so have home security systems, because they need to be one step ahead of the smartest break-in artist. One example of this is the advantage to have the home security system call out on a cell phone, rather than the home telephone. This is because one of the things that smart criminals do prior to breaking into a house is to cut the telephone lines, which would disable the home security system from alerting the monitoring center. Without the ability to contact the monitoring center that means no police on the way and the burglar can take their time collecting possessions from the house.

Burglars just like homeowners stay informed about the types of security systems and gadgets that are available, so that they can understand how they work and how to get around them.

The problem is that unless the cell phone is in the house at the time of the break-in there is no way for the criminal to disable it. That means as soon as the residence is broken into there is a call being sent to the monitoring center on the cell phone number.

Family protection is one of the things that people are concerned with, as well as their homes being robbed. The cell phone is a large advantage because, even if there is a break-in, smoke or fire during a power outage it is not going to affect a cell phone the same as it would a house telephone.

The name of the game in every neighborhood is protection today, because burglary crimes are up higher than ever before, and it is not just a city crime. Burglaries are just as high in the suburbs when it is residential break-ins, as it is in the city and it does not only mean houses, apartments and condos are included in the burglary statistics each year.

The largest number of the break-ins occurs in homes, apartments and condos that do not have a home alarm system protecting them, because this is easy for the criminal to take what they want without being caught. That of course is the largest objective of the thief, is to get into a home and out with the possessions people have worked hard to have.

Today, residential break-ins are climbing higher in homes that are not protected with a home security system and this is one of the reasons why to have a safe environment and a safe home when it is empty to have the full protection of a home security system with monitoring.
